Staggered hiring at multiple sources keeps IT recruitment healthy

With IT companies registering an average 12 to 14 per cent growth since the beginning of the financial year 2013-2014, hiring has been steady claim several players in the IT industry. However the difference that the market is witnessing is in the type and quality of hires across the year.

Software engineers, lawyers, mathematicians and even those with an economics background are being hired. Technology-wise the segments that are looking for these skills include Cloud/Virtualisation, Data Scientists, Mobile applications, Platform engineering, User-experience and Design and Graphics.

“The focus today is on hiring more domain specialists and post graduates, in addition to the regular engineering graduates,” states Suresh Mohan, CEO, TechSol HR. “It is really a shift in the value-addition capabilities of the sector. Thus although numerically there is relatively less hiring, the quality of the recruits has risen. Thus skilled hiring is happening based on increasing demands of the business.”
