How To Get The Cursor/Caret Location In A Textbox

You can easily get the Length of the text in a textbox.

But can you get the location of cursor somewhere in the middle of the text in the textbox. Can you find that???
Yes, you can. Use the following code-

<html>
<head>
<script>
    function f1(el) {
    var val = el.value;
    alert(val.slice(0, el.selectionStart).length);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input type=text id=t1 value=abcd>
    <button onclick="f1(document.getElementById('t1'))">check position</button>
</body>
</html>
